This question came to life after we discussed how the Project Management Plan was actually a part of the Project Scope (even though you do not deliver it to the customer and keep it with yourself!)
If there are documents that are delivered to the customer, shouldn’t the Project Team concentrate and make efforts to complete the project instead of doing documentation? If your project team has the same question, its time to justify documentation with the value it carries.
Documentation is,
- Absolutely the best way to keep track of the work done, strategies used, changes that occurred and every other minute detail
- Absolutely the best way to avoid the ‘blame game’
- Absolutely the best way to keep everyone on the same page to make sure there are no unpleasant surprises and unknown risks
- Absolutely the best way to transfer knowledge
