PMBOK 6th edition is coming soon! Every time the budding PMPs hear about the next edition coming out, it naturally leads to certain confusion and FAQs. Most predominantly what would the questions on my exam based on PMBOK 5 or PMBOK 6? Here’s the update on everything that we know as of now about PMBOK guide edition 6 based on the information released by PMI as of July 2016.
According to PMI, we can expect the following release dates:
1. The draft* version of PMBOK 6 is scheduled to release in the first quarter of 2017 (Jan-Mar 2017)
*Draft version is basically utilized by the training schools to update their training materials
2. The final version of PMBOK 6 is scheduled to release in the third quarter of 2017 (Jun-Aug 2017)
3. PMP exam update to the content based on PMBOK 6 will take place in Q1 of 2018 (Jan-Mar 2018)
4. If you are taking the exam before Jan 1, 2018? – Use PMBOK 5
5. If you are taking the exam after Jan 1, 2018? – Use PMBOK 6
