Collect Requirements Tools and Techniques – Group Decision Making Techniques

There are many tools and techniques of the Collect Requirements Process. We have discussed a few them in an earlier article. In this article we are going over the Group Decision Making Techniques.

Large projects typically have numerous stakeholders and it is quite possible that they have conflicting requirements. While discussing requirements as a group activity like Focus Groups or Facilitated Workshops can reduce such conflicts we would ultimately need to resort to Group Decision Making Techniques to make decisions on what requirement to choose between the two conflicting ones.

Below are the Group Decision Making Techniques,

1. Unanimity – Everyone in the group agrees on the decision

2. Majority – More than half of the group agree on the decision

3. Plurality – Idea with the most number of votes win

4. Dictatorship – One person makes the decision for the group
